Progress towards our 2030 Sustainability social goals

At Custom Fleet, sustainability means more than just caring for the planet — it’s about caring for people.

We believe that real, lasting progress comes from supporting and advancing equality and supporting the communities where we live and work. It’s not enough to set goals — we want to make sure they help us build a workplace where everyone is seen, supported and empowered.

Our social sustainability achievements aren’t just nice-to-haves — they’re a key part of how we measure success. Because a thriving community of people is key to a sustainable future.

Advancing gender equality

We’re committed to achieving equal gender representation in leadership by 2030, and we’re making solid progress. Today, 37% of our leadership roles are held by women, bringing us closer to our goal.

We’ve introduced several initiatives to help drive this change, including:

  • Work180 Endorsed Employer Status, recognising Custom Fleet as a great place to work for women and recently named in the top 101 employers for women.
  • The next chapter of our Green Light program, our award-winning leadership development initiative created in partnership with Maxme. First launched in 2023, the program helps female employees enhance self-awareness, leverage strengths, and build resilience.

Green Light’s impact has been recognised globally, earning a global Platinum LearnX Award for Best HR Talent Management in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and a third-place finish in the Best Diversity & Inclusion Program category at the 2025 AITD Excellence Awards.

We also know gender balance requires more than targets – it’s about creating the right environment for people to thrive. That’s why we’ve introduced progressive policies and benefits that support all stages of life, including:

  • Our Reproductive Health Leave policy supporting pregnancy and fertility care, gender affirmation care, and menstrual, perimenopause and menopause support.
  • Gender-neutral parental leave – supporting modern families in recognising there’s no such thing as a secondary carer.

Strengthening communities

Our goal to invest $250,000 in community initiatives by 2030 is well underway. Through Custom Cares, our employee volunteer network, our team has donated 554 hours so far this year to organisations making a real difference, including:

  • The Salvation Army, volunteering at The Nest Café
  • Ronald McDonald House, preparing meals for families with children in hospital
  • Storm 70, raising funds for Bowel Cancer
  • Werribee River Association, Cobbledick Ford Reserve, and KKA Gardiners Creek, supporting local environmental conservation

We’ve also partnered with The Salvation Army, to provide two new electric/hybrid vehicles for use as shared pool cars. This partnership not only makes sustainable transport more accessible but also helps build confidence in EV technology as the Salvos team continues their vital community work.

To encourage our crew to get involved in volunteer initiatives, we’ve also introduced one day of paid volunteer leave per year, to donate time to a cause that matters to them.

Building an inclusive culture

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) extends beyond gender equality. We’re proud of several recent milestones that demonstrate our broader impact:

  • Joined the Australian Disability Network and achieved Disability Confident Recruiter status, ensuring a barrier-free, inclusive candidate experience.
  • Achieved Rainbow Tick accreditation in New Zealand for the second consecutive year, recognising our commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
  • Earned Gold Level Certification at the Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards for the second year in a row, along with being named the 2025 AWEI Small Employer of the Year.
  • Receiving the Advanced GenderTick Accreditation in New Zealand for our continuing focus on creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace for people of all genders.

Building a better future, together

Together, these achievements reflect our ongoing commitment to creating a workplace and world that’s fair, inclusive and regenerative.

As we move closer to 2030, we’re inspired by the progress we’ve made and energised by the opportunities still ahead.
