Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
& Belonging

At Custom Fleet, it’s people first, always

That’s why we’re committed to supporting people who are as diverse as the communities we serve.

Custom Fleet acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land we now call Australia on which we work and meet each day.

We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continuing connection to land, water, and community and pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to their Elders past, present and future.

1. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Strategy and Policy

Our DEIB Strategy and Policy sets us apart as an employer of choice for diverse talent.

We are passionate about creating equitable job opportunities for Māori and Pasifika youth through our partnership with First Foundation.

We’re continually improving our people practices. This includes our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and delivering on progressive initiatives outlined in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) and Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

We are proud members of Pride in Diversity, Diversity Council Australia, Rainbow Tick NZ, and Supply Nation.

In July 2023, Custom Fleet was awarded Bronze Level Certification as part of the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) LGBTQ Inclusion Awards.

In March 2024, Custom Fleet was officially endorsed by WORK180 as an organisation committed to supporting women’s careers. Check out our profile on the WORK180 website.

2. Intersection – our diversity network

Our diversity network, Intersection, has a mission to foster a safe and unbiased environment for people from all cultural backgrounds, the LGBTQIA+ community, and women to grow and thrive with confidence.

Intersection has three streams – Culturally Responsive, Pride, and Women In Fleet.

This network helps progress employer of choice certification initiatives for diverse talent and leads meaningful celebration and reflection for days of significance each year (National Reconciliation Week, Māori Language Week, Pride Month & International Women’s Day to name a few) so that everyone at Custom Fleet feel they belong.

As part of our Custom Crew, we’d love to see you to join our network of passionate internal activists and change makers!

3. Custom Care – charity fundraising and volunteering

Our community volunteer and fundraising network is called Custom Care.

Custom Care’s mission is unleashing the power of compassion, one act at a time.

We seek to regenerate hope and connection by taking action to care for those who are vulnerable in our community.

At Custom Fleet, we truly believe that the privilege of being part of many communities around Australia comes with the responsibility to help those who are most in need.

We envision a world where compassion knows no boundaries - a world where every person is valued, uplifted, and supported.

As part of this vision, we actively partner with several key not-for-profit organisations and encourage our employees to spend time volunteering and giving back to our communities.

4. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Custom Fleet’s RAP forms part of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategy, wholeheartedly endorsed by our Executive team in 2022.

Custom Fleet embarked on progress towards reconciliation, both in Australia and New Zealand, as part of broader diversity and inclusion initiatives before taking the important step to formally affirm our commitment to reconciliation in Australia by developing this RAP.

Our vision for reconciliation

Our vision for reconciliation is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contributions are wholly integrated as part of our modern society. When our vision is achieved, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will have the same pathways to opportunities that see them celebrated in our communities. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will progress and thrive in a country that is fair, equal, and respects the millennia of connection and belonging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to this land.

Custom Fleet’s vision for reconciliation is about equity and belonging – the outcomes that ground our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategy.

5. Progressing Gender Equality and closing our Gender Pay Gap

As part of Element Fleet management, both our global Executive Team and our ANZ Leadership Team are deeply committed to driving equal pay and eliminating our gender pay gap (GPG).

We are actively supporting our incredible crew of women to develop their leadership skills through our Greenlight program – Custom Fleet’s emerging leadership program for women. This program kicked off in 2023 and we are continuing to support and enhance the program in 2024 and beyond.

Other important initiatives we’ve implemented to progress gender equality are outlined in our 2023 Gender Pay Gap Report Employer Statement, including our commitment to achieve WGEA’s Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation.

Our Community

To us, the privilege of being part of many communities across Australia and New Zealand comes with the responsibility to help those who are in need. Through Custom Care (our charity fundraising and volunteering program) and Intersection (our Diversity & Inclusion network), we support many not-for profit organisations chosen by our employees. These include Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander inclusion, disadvantaged youth, animal welfare, homelessness, and cancer support. We also encourage our employees to spend one day each year volunteering with our community partners and offer volunteer leave for each of our employees to give back.
