On the road to 2030: Our Sustainability Strategy progress report
Transport is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions across Australia and New Zealand, accounting for 21% of emissions in Australia1 and around 17% in New Zealand2, with road transport the dominant source in both countries.
As a leading Fleet Manager across Australia and New Zealand, we’re uniquely positioned to help drive change.

We recently launched our 2030 Sustainability Strategy, setting ambitious targets that reflect our commitment to driving a regenerative future. At the heart of this strategy is a clear opportunity: to influence decarbonisation across both our own operations and those of our customers.
Our local 2030 emission reduction targets are:
- Reduce our scope 3 emissions intensity from Categories 11 and 13 by 55% compared to a 2019 base year (aligned to Element’s global near-term Science Based Target)
- Electrify at least 30% of our customers’ passenger and light commercial vehicles*
Our sustainability progress report
Here’s how we’re tracking so far towards these goals:
- Reducing our own emissions: In FY24, we achieved a 74% reduction in our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, driven by electrifying our internal fleet and consolidating our office footprint. This achievement exceeds expectations set out by Element’s near-term Science Based Target (SBT) and establishes a strong foundation for embedding emissions reduction principles into our operations.
- Leading by example: Our internal fleet is now 100% electric - an outcome we’re incredibly proud of. This transition not only reduces our own impact but also provides direct insights into how we can best support our customers on their decarbonisation journeys.
- Restoring biodiversity: Through our partnership with Reforest, we’re planting trees in local, high-quality reforestation projects. We can now extend this initiative to our customers as a value-added service. While we recognise that reforestation doesn’t replace emissions reduction, it is an important way to remove carbon, restore biodiversity, and give back to the land we live and work on.
- Empowering our customers: We continue to make progress towards our global target of 350,000 EVs under management and our local goal of electrifying 30% of our passenger fleet by 2030. These milestones represent tangible steps towards a lower-carbon future.
Transparency and accountability remain central to our approach
