Custom Fleet Innovate RAP: 2025 achievements, challenges, learnings
In 2025, Custom Fleet took another important step forward on our Reconciliation journey with the launch of our Innovate 2.0 Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
This milestone builds on the foundations of our first Innovate RAP and reflects our continued commitment to learning, listening and taking meaningful action. Here’s a look at what we achieved, what we learned, and where we’re heading next.
2025 achievements:
- Launching our Innovate 2.0 RAP
During National Reconciliation Week, we proudly launched our new Innovate 2.0 RAP. This plan represents the next stage in our journey, with a strong focus on deepening relationships across our supply network and increasing procurement spend with First Nations–owned businesses throughout Australia and New Zealand. - Deepening cultural learning and engagement
We continued to build cultural awareness and understanding across our team by welcoming Jillian West back to host advanced Cultural Awareness workshops during NAIDOC Week. Inspired by the ABC program You Can’t Ask That, these sessions provided a safe, open space for reflection, real conversation and listening to lived experiences. - Supporting First Nations recruitment and career pathways
In partnership with the Killara Foundation, we welcomed participants from the Ngarrgu Djerring Program to our Melbourne office for a tailored job-readiness and interview skills workshop. Participants learned practical skills such as how to prepare for interviews, highlight their strengths and communicate transferable skills. They also took part in mock interviews with our Talent Acquisition Team and leaders to help build confidence and experience. - Expanding engagement with First Nations suppliers
Our partnership with Supply Nation, now in its second year, has continued to grow. We exceeded our annual goals by increasing engagement with Indigenous businesses, strengthening our procurement processes and supporting greater economic participation. We’re proud of this progress and remain committed to further expanding our partnerships in the years ahead. - Meeting RAP governance commitments
We maintained strong governance by convening our RAP Working Group twice a year and providing quarterly progress updates to our crew and senior leaders — ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process.
2025 challenges & learnings
- Growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce participation
Our involvement in the Ngarrgu Djerring Program was a valuable step toward increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation within Custom Fleet. The initiative provided important skills and experience for participants — but we recognise there’s more to do. In 2026, we’ll continue this partnership and explore new ways to create meaningful career pathways and work experiences for First Nations students. - Improving diversity data collection
Capturing accurate and secure diversity data remains a challenge. Our systems are evolving, and privacy considerations must be carefully managed. A key focus for 2026 will be to develop new ways of collecting diversity data effectively, so we can better measure progress against our RAP goals.
Reflections and next steps
Reconciliation at Custom Fleet is about more than meeting commitments — it’s about creating lasting change.
We’re proud of what we achieved in 2025, but we know this is an ongoing journey.
Our vision remains clear: that First Nations cultures, histories and contributions are recognised, respected and celebrated as part of a truly inclusive Australia.
Here’s to continuing the journey through our Innovate RAP and beyond.
