Supplier diversity: how we’re driving change at Custom Fleet

For us, supplier diversity is more than just a procurement strategy. It’s a commitment to equity, economic empowerment, and long term sustainability. At Custom Fleet, we believe the way we spend matters, and we’re invested in reshaping economic outcomes across Australian and New Zealand communities.

Why supplier diversity is critical

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Māori, and Pasifika owned businesses remain under represented in mainstream supply chains. That’s led to fewer opportunities, reduced visibility, and ultimately less profit flowing into their local communities.

We know that where and how we choose to spend has real commercial influence. By intentionally partnering with diverse suppliers, we’re strengthening our supply chain, driving innovation, and supporting sustainable economic growth that flows through to the communities those businesses support.

That’s why supplier diversity is a core pillar of our 2030 sustainability strategy.

Our commitment: $3 million to diverse suppliers by 2030

One of our leading goals is to divert $3 million of our spend to diverse suppliers by 2030. This target reflects both our ambition and our belief that meaningful change requires measurable outcomes.

We’re proud to share that in 2025 we reached $1.9 million, putting us well on track to meet, and potentially exceed, our long term goal.

How we’re making it happen

Progress doesn’t happen in isolation. We’ve partnered closely with Supply Nation in Australia and Amotai in New Zealand to identify verified Indigenous, Māori, and Pasifika owned businesses. These partnerships have helped us:

  • Build genuine, long term relationships with diverse suppliers
  • Increase visibility of under represented businesses within our procurement processes
  • Direct more spend into communities that benefit most from economic inclusion

This approach has strengthened our supply chain while contributing to broader social and economic outcomes.

What’s next: expanding our definition of diversity

We’re proud of our progress to-date, and we know there’s more work to do. In 2026, we’re looking to expand the scope of our supplier diversity program to include additional groups that have historically been under represented in business.

This next phase will broaden our impact, create new opportunities, and help ensure our supply chain reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.

Stay tuned - we’re just getting started.
